Davidovich Fokina also produced the biggest wins of his career in 2021. He defeated Matteo Berrettini en-route to the ATP Masters 1000 Monte Carlo quarter-finals, and it was only a few weeks later that again on the red dirt clay courts, Davidovich Fokina ousted Casper Ruud in five sets, to reach the French Open quarter-finals.

Back in 2019, in just his second ATP Tour main draw appearance, Davidovich Fokina advanced to the semi-finals of Estoril, as a qualifier, after beating the likes of Taylor Fritz and Gael Monfils.
However, Davidovich Fokina didn’t have it all his own way at the 2019 Next Gen Finals, at the season showpiece, the Spaniard lost all three of his group games against Alex de Minaur, Ruud and Miomir Kecmanovic.
In 2020, he reached the US Open fourth round to become the youngest Spaniard to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam since Rafael Nadal (21-years-old), at the 2007 US Open (ATP).
In the same year, Davidovich Fokina was on the wrong end of a record after blowing three match points in the first round in Rio de Janeiro against Seyboth Wild, he lost the longest ATP Tour match of 2020, according to the ATP (three hours, 50 minutes).
In 2021, Davidovich Fokina has beaten the likes of Hubert Hurkacz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Grigor Dimitrov and Cameron Norrie.
He finished the year with a 27-23 win-loss record.

Alejandro started playing tennis at the age of two-and-a-half-years-old with his father. His dad, Eduard Mark Davidovich was a boxer. His mother is called Tatiana Fokina and he has a brother, Mark.
He first trained at La Cala del Moral with former coach Manolo Rubiales, but at the age of 11 he began training with his current coach Jorge Aguirre at Racket Club Fuengirola. Davidovich Fokina left home (Fuengirola) at the age of 16 to pursue his tennis venture.
