Trent Alexander-Arnold captained Liverpool for the first time last night.
The Reds drew their final Champions League game of the group stage 1-1 with FC Midtylland.
Mo Salah opened the scoring, before Alexander Scholz’s penalty pegged them back.
It was a dead rubber and Jurgen Klopp made some changes to his side but also made it a night to remember for Alexander-Arnold.
Jurgen Klopp spoke about the decision and the performance of his skipper for the night to BT Sport after the game.
“Good, Trent, the plan was to take him off as well but the game developed in a way where he looked okay,” said Klopp.
“We have to look and see how he feels (injury-wise). But that was the clear decision, we have the players committee, they are usually the ones who are the captains – Hendo, Virgil, Milly and Gini.
“Then it’s always the longest in the club. That was obviously Trent – it wasn’t even a decision, just a logical thing to do.”
Some Liverpool supporters on Twitter were thrilled with the decision, and we’ve picked out the best of the reaction…
