Tottenham transfer update – potential signings

Ozan Kabak

Tottenham Hotspur face competition from West Ham to sign Schalke defender Ozan Kabak.

Spurs have been linked with potential successors to 31-year-old Toby Alderweireld, with Kabak seen as the perfect replacement.

However, Sport1 suggests West Ham are also eager to land the £13.5 million player.

Sven Botman

Lille defender Sven Botman is a target for Tottenham Hotspur, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles suggested Mourinho is an admirer of the Dutchman, who has also been linked with Liverpool.

The Reds, however, have distanced themselves from the rumours and ruled out a move in this window and the next. This could pave the way for Spurs to snap him up.

Eder Militao

According to AS, Tottenham are keen on signing versatile Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.

Militao has played just three games this term for los Blancos and could favour a move to the English capital.

Julian Araujo

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing right-back Julian Araujo from Los Angeles Galaxy, according to The Sunday People (print edition, page 54, January 10, 2021).

The 19-year-old defender is tipped to be a star and is already a USA international.

He made 17 appearances in the 2020 calendar year for the Galaxy, scoring once and providing two assists.

Nicolas Gonzalez

Stuttgart forward Nicolas Gonzalez is being considered by Mourinho, according to the Athletic.

The 22-year-old Argentine striker has also been on the radar of Leeds United, managed by compatriot Marcelo Bielsa.

Gonzalez has five goals and two assists from ten Bundesliga appearances this term. He hit double figures (14) in the German second tier last season.

Discussions with Spurs are said to be at a “preliminary stage”.

Diego Costa

Football.London previously suggested Tottenham were keen on reuniting Mourinho and Diego Costa. However, any hopes appear to have been extinguished.

According to the Mirror, the Spaniard’s wage demands have deterred several clubs from signing the free agent.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were also keen on the former Chelsea striker.

Harry Winks

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is being linked with a loan move to Valencia, according to AS.

Football.London previously suggested the midfielder was unlikely to leave the club in January – but the situation appears to have changed.

Winks has been a vital squad player for Spurs and the club is said to be reluctant to let him leave on loan, insisting on a fee.

Dennis Cerkin

The Athletic reports Tottenham are considering loaning out full-back Dennis Cerkin to an EFL club to allow the defender to gain more first-team experience.

Mourinho is said to be a fan of the 18-year-old and has hailed his work ethic and commitment.

Cerkin has been an unused substitute in two Europa League games this season as well as the FA Cup third round tie against Marine.
