Maria Sakkari has continued to go from strength to strength over the years. The Greek world No.5 had a stellar 2021 where she reached the semifinals at the French Open and US Open, making her the first woman from Greece to reach a Grand Slam semifinal.
Sakkari reached the fourth round at the 2022 Australian Open, and reached the final of the Indian Wells Open where she lost to Iga Świątek in straight sets.

Maria Sakkari’s boyfriend is Konstantinos Mitsotakis, who is the son of Greece’s prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The couple have been dating since 2020, which Maria said came at an unexpected time.
Speaking about their relationship, Maria told Greek City Times: “It has been a year now since we met and the truth is he helped me a lot. He is a special guy. I have disclosed the relationship anyway; it is not hidden.
“I think it was a big part of why I did well at Roland Garros as I spent my free time with him very differently from when I was alone.
“He calmed me down, he talked to me, he was very supportive. Konstantinos is a very simple guy. I can talk to him for hours. We have a very easy relationship. He is a very easy person.”

According to Greek City Times, Konstantinos Mitsotakis completed his mandatory military service in the army just before the beginning of the French Open this year. The prime minister’s son reportedly enlisted in the artillery in September 2020.
Konstantinos Mitsotakis was then transferred to the “Ioannou” camp in Evros, and the prime minister even visited his son there.
Who is Sakkari’s tennis coach Tom Hill?
Maria Sakkari’s tennis coach is Tom Hill, a 26-year-old from Redditch, England.
He started playing tennis in his native country before moving to Bradenton, Florida, at the age of ten.
While there he attended the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (now IMG Academy) before pursuing a coaching career.
Hill has coached Maria Sakkari to six top-ten wins and the world No. 18 ranking.

5th seed Sakkari is into the third round at Wimbledon where she faces German Tatjana Maria. The Greek tennis star has not dropped a set so far at this year’s tournament, beating Zoe Hives and Viktoriya Tomova in the previous rounds.
