Daniil Medvedev is officially the world number 1. The Russian has won 11 ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2021 US Open. But who is Daniil Medvedev’s wife, former tennis player Daria Medvedeva?
Russian Daniil Medvedev is the new world number 1 after Novak Djokovic lost 6-4, 7-6 (4) to Czech qualifier Jiri Vesely in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Championships.
Djokovic spent a total of 361 weeks as the world’s highest ranked player, but on Monday, Medvedev will move up a place and become the 27th man to reach No. 1.
Who is Medvedev’s wife?
Daniil keeps his personal life private, but we know he met his wife Daria some time in 2014. Daria hails from Moscow, and the couple tied the knot in 2018.
Daria is a former tennis player herself but her career was blighted by injuries, forcing her to retire early.
The couple currently live in Monte Carlo and have no children as of yet.
Daria Medvedeva is an important part of Daniil’s team
According to Daniil, Daria takes care of the day-to-day things so he can focus on playing tennis.
Medvedev said in a press conference his wife is the most important member of his team and he’s thankful for her being there.
“She’s one of the most important members of my team,” he once said.
“She gave me a lot of confidence. I always say it’s the moment I made the proposal to her, that’s when I started to go up.
“It was at this moment – it was after Wimbledon. I was, I think, (ranked) 65 or something and, at the end of the year, I was already 15.
“I mean, I made the best American swing I could have made last year, and it was only going up, and she does a lot for me in order for me to play better tennis.”
