Ashleigh Barty is the home favourite and number 1 seed at the 2022 Australian Open. Fans are interested to know more about her boyfriend, Garry Kissick, as well as her family and personal life.
Ash Barty is into the final of the 2022 Australian Open, and will face American Danielle Collins in the final this weekend. The Aussie is the heavy favourite to win the Grand Slam title, and will be hoping to emulate 1978 champion Christine O’Neil as the last Aussie – male or female – to win the Australian Open singles title.
Barty already has two singles Grand Slams to her name, winning the 2019 French Open and 2021 Wimbledon title.
Ashleigh burst on to the scene aged just 16 as she reached the women’s doubles Australian Open final in 2013.
Barty has been improving ever since. Most fans believe if it wasn’t for injuries and a two-year hiatus, she would have even more Grand Slams to her name.
Born on 24 April 1996, Barty is still just 25 years old with plenty of career in front of her. Born in Ipswich in Queensland, Australia, she will have all Australian tennis fans behind her during the upcoming Grand Slam.
The off-court life of the women’s world number one
Ashleigh tends to keep her personal life and relationship news quiet. However, her now four-year relationship with Garry Kissick has become public – and fans want to know more.
Garry Kissick, also from Queensland, Australia, is 30 years old and a lifelong supporter of Liverpool Football Club.
Kissick is an aspiring professional golfer and part of the PGA Trainee programme.
Barty and Kissick met at the Brookwater Golf Club in 2016 and have been together since. They met during a round of golf and still like a competitive game against each other now and again.
Kissick is hugely supportive of his partner
The sporting couple immediately clicked and went public with their relationship in 2017 when they appeared alongside each other at the John Newcombe Awards.
When Ash famously won at Roland Garros in 2019, an over-the-moon Garry posted a loving message on Instagram: “No one deserves this more than you.”
While they don’t have children, Ashleigh is a dog mum. The couple recently got two puppies, Alphie and Chino.
Garry posted his and the dogs’ support for Ash while she was away trying to win Wimbledon which, of course, she did.
Kissick would have loved to travel to England with her but all players were in a bubble because of covid regulations.
