Red Bull Salzburg wonderkid Dominik Szoboszlai has chosen to join ‘sister side’ RB Leipzig in January, according to Sky Sports Germany.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a number of top European clubs in recent months after impressing in the Austrian premier league.
European giants Bayern Munich had reportedly expressed interest in Szoboszlai. The Hungary international looks bound for Germany – but to Leipzig rather than Bayern.
Arsenal fans frustrated
As well as Real Madrid, one other club reportedly keen on the promising youngster was Arsenal.
However, the Gunners appear to have missed out, with details of Szoboszlai’s move to Leipzig set to be finalised in the coming weeks, according to the report.
The news has left a number of Arsenal fans frustrated. And some took to Twitter to express their disappointment at the latest update on Szoboszlai’s future:
Szoboszlai’s sparkling form
It’s no surprise Szoboszlai has had so many suitors. He scored nine times and provided 14 assists in 27 league appearances last season.
The creative midfielder has shown no signs of slowing this season either.
He has produced ten goal contributions in as many games domestically, while he found the net twice in the Champions League group stages.
Bitter blow for Arsenal
The Hungarian’s obvious quality in the final third makes the news a bitter blow for Arsenal. The Gunners have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just ten goals in 11 league matches.
Szoboszlai may have helped to turn the club’s fortunes around. However, his arrival in north London appears over for now.

Forced to look elsewhere, Emi Buendia and Houssem Aouar are alternatives who could provide the spark Mikel Arteta’s side are missing.
For now, however, Arteta must rely on his current squad to halt their miserable run of form.
The team returns to action on Sunday night when the Gunners take on Burnley at home.
