Steven Bergwijn played a crucial role for Tottenham in a 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United on Friday night, but did admit he still had a small amount of pain from the ankle injury he sustained back in March.

The Dutch attacker opened the scoring with a powerful finish against Man United, before Bruno Fernandez equalised from the spot to leave both sides with a point each in the Premier League fixture.

Jose Mourinho substituted the winger off after 70 minutes for the north London outfit and there were no signs of any injury issues during the fixture.

Bergwin reassured any concerned fans that he feels good despite the pain.

“I feel good, sometimes still have a little bit of pain but I’m good,” Bergwijn responded post-match when asked about his fitness.

Bergwijn went into the break with an ankle problem that he sustained in a league fixture against Burnley, but he’s continued to make a positive impact since his January arrival from PSV Eindhoven.

The 27-year-old showed his blistering pace to make space for himself against Man United before scoring, plus he’s got an impressive work-rate and is technically sound.

He’s now managed three goals in his eight Spurs appearances and his latest impressive display surely puts him in line to start against West Ham next Tuesday.

Mourinho have a number of talented individuals competing in the forward areas and Bergwijn is surely cementing a spot in the XI.
