Former Leeds United defender Dominic Matteo has hailed the improvement of Northern Ireland international Stuart Dallas game on game this season.
Matteo spoke about the performance of Dallas in Monday night’s game when Leeds met another of his former clubs Liverpool.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post he feels Dallas is getting better every single game and growing in stature.
Dallas netted the double which won the game against Manchester City and perhaps he has taken confidence from that.
ANNOYED: Leeds man says he should have done more against Liverpool
“The lads are learning every time they play. Even though some of the lads are 30, like Stuart Dallas who had his birthday on Monday, it feels like everyone is still getting better,” he said.
“It’s great to watch. I’ve been such a fan of the way they’ve conducted themselves and played. It’s inspired me. The way they’re playing is the way you should play football. We do take chances but it’s good to watch.
“Dallas in particular seems to grow in stature every game. He had a bit of a battle against Liverpool, it was a real test against good opposition but as the game went on he seemed to get better.”
97 TOUCHES, 4 TACKLES: Leeds United star stood out vs Liverpool
Dallas has been one of the unsung heroes of Leeds’ return to the top flight, playing in a variety of positions and shining in all of them.
His fitness is absolutely stunning too and that’s exactly what Marcelo Bielsa demands from his players.
It’s testament to Bielsa’s coaching and Dallas’ willingness to learn that he is continuing to get better even as an experienced player.
