Horlock is the daughter of former Manchester City player and current Northern Ireland U21 international manager Kevin Horlock.

Kevin Horlock played for a host of sides in his professional career. As well as City he played for West Ham United and Ipswich Town. He also made 32 appearances for the Northern Ireland senior squad and has been the U21 assistant boss since 2013.

Much in demand, Kevin Horlock also manages non-league side Needham Market.

Shannon Horlock has been dating Pope since before the 2018 FIFA World Cup and travelled to Russia to watch the tournament, according to WTFoot.

Her Instagram account, albeit private, also appears to feature the Burnley keeper in her profile picture.

Shannon’s Twitter account follows a similar trend and features the couple together. Her account, although inactive since 2019, has seen her retweet messages of encouragement from the official Burnley and England accounts as well as that of her father.

Nick Pope’s career

The 28-year-old Englishman has impressed since making his league debut for the Clarets in September 2017. Replacing injured first-choice stopper Tom Heaton, Pope kept a clean sheet as Burnley beat Crystal Palace 1-0.

Pope went on to keep 11 clean sheets that season and was called up to the Three Lions senior team in June 2018. He went on to make his international debut against Costa Rica before being selected in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup. However, he was an unused substitute throughout the tournament.

A shoulder injury in Burnley’s qualification campaign for the Europa League the following season saw him miss the majority of the 2018-19 campaign.

Pope made just three appearances that term before playing throughout the side’s league campaign the season after, keeping 15 clean sheets.

Pope made his competitive debut for England in November 2019 – a 4-0 win over Kosovo in qualification for this summer’s European Championships.

The England international has kept four clean sheets in ten league games for Burnley this season.
