Lamar Patterson, a promising young football player for St Frances Academy, has sadly passed away. People paid tribute to the talented youngster online and shared their condolences following the tragic news.

Lamar Patterson was a 5ft 9in, 171lb wide receiver from Kissimmee, Florida. He attended St Frances Academy in Baltimore. He was described as one of the top prospects in the class of 2022.

Patterson was a three-star recruit and was being recruited by multiple programmes. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, he was leaning towards Penn State or Virginia Tech, although he had multiple D1 offers.

Per On3, just this week he was seen wearing Penn State and Virginia Tech gear.

In 2020, Tom Lemming, college football recruiting analyst and co-host of the Lemming Report on CBS Sports Network, tweeted: “Lamar Patterson is another super 2022 Prospect. Can play RB, WR, SB and DB. Super fast and elusive. 3.8 GPA. A natural who seems to do everything with ease. Will be a national recruit.”

Lamar Patterson’s death announced

News of Lamar Patterson’s passing began circulating on social media on 2 February 2022. Coach Chris Mitchell was one of the first accounts to share the sad news.

He wrote: “Got some terrible news! Lamar Patterson Dam lil dawg not you man. Prayers out to his family, close friends, mentors, coaches and to everyone who knew him! Lord please protect our youth! RIP.”

Four-star Texas A&M recruit Bryce Anderson said in a quote tweet: “RIP lil bro,” along with a heartbreak emoji. Donovan Salters, a former teammate of Lamar, also shared the heartbreaking news:

Social media was full of tributes for Lamar Patterson on hearing the news. Many sent their condolences to his friends and family and sent prayers to the St Frances family.
