Nicolas Pepe was sent off during the second half of Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Leeds on Sunday.
His dismissal left the Gunners under the cosh but they escaped Elland Road with a point.
As per the Times, Pepe has now apologised for his loss of composure and the report also details Mikel Arteta’s plans to deal with him.
That encompasses a possible fine, a disciplinary meeting and his immediate future with the January transfer window looming.
They report that Pepe will be called into Arteta’s office for a one on one meeting, as is the Spaniard’s preference.
Willian and Matteo Guendouzi have both been subjected to similiar sit-downs in the past few months.
Pepe is unlikely to be fined for the red card upon his return to training today.
Also, Arsenal are not likely to loan out the Ivorian because they have a packed schedule this season.
It goes without saying that what Pepe did on the weekend won’t help his chances of impressing Arteta, who has only handed him two league starts this season.
If he is able to turn a negative into a positive, he has time on the training pitch now to get fighting fit and work on things to impress the manager.
Pepe looks like he won’t be going anywhere in the winter window, so the onus is on him to start living up to his pricetag.
