Former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has assessed Harry Kane’s chances of breaking further records after a historic week.

On Thursday, he hit his 200th Tottenham goal and followed it up with his 150th Premier League goal.

That was the winning strike in a 1-0 away victory over West Brom and Crouch praised Kane in his Daily Mail column.

Crouch knows what it takes to hit the back of the net regularly for Spurs and was effusive with his comments.

“The numbers are staggering. He’s got 201 for Tottenham now and he could end up with 300 for the club before he finishes.

“He’s a certainty to join Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney in the 200 club for the Premier League but beating Shearer’s total of 260 will be a tall order. Kane is not only Tottenham’s best scorer, he’s also their best creator.

“He’s like two men rolled into one. The best compliment I can pay him is that if you wanted someone to take a shot to score from 25 yards to save your life, I’d pick Kane every single day.”

There have been plenty of discussions about Kane’s ability to surpass Shearer, dating back to the period he first burst onto the scene.

It relies on him staying fit – something he has struggled to do regularly for Tottenham. Shearer did also miss periods with serious injuries, which makes his record all the more impressive.

If he gets to the 300 for Spurs Crouch is predicting, he will smash through Jimmy Greaves’ current record of 266.

The other big threat is if Kane moves outside the Premier League.

But with Daniel Levy a notoriously shrewd negotiator, the current financial climate and the sniff of the title, Kane will be so tough to buy for any potential suitors.

That should leave him free to keep smashing records at Spurs.
