BBC pundit Peter Crouch has called Declan Rice one of the best holding midfielders in Europe.

Rice shone once again as West Ham came from behind to win 2-1 at Leeds on Friday night.

That victory meant the Hammers finished the weekend in sixth, with none of the ‘traditional’ top six getting a win.

Crouch made the bold claim in the Daily Mail, and there was also praise for three more West Ham stars.

“I have watched West Ham a good few times this season and the more I see, the more I like,” said Crouch. “It really is time for David Moyes to be given some appreciation for the work he has done.

“Declan Rice has really impressed me this season, to the point I would call him one of the best holding midfielders in Europe.

“I often wondered about the hype around him but watch him closely, how he carries the ball out of defence and the work he puts in. He is looking like the real deal.

“It is not just about him. Said Benrahma looks an excellent signing and could become the maverick West Ham fans love. He reminds me a bit of Dmitri Payet.

“Aaron Cresswell is coming on in leaps and bounds, Michail Antonio has been a revelation. They look more credible for Europe now than Wolves, who are always talked up.”

Rice has furthered his reputation once again this season.

He’s established himself as England’s first choice holding midfield player and is starring in a West Ham side pushing for Europe.

It seems he’s convinced Crouch, who admitted he was a bit skeptical about the hype around Rice.

It’s easy to see why, and he’s one of the main reasons West Ham sit in the European places as it stands.
