Liverpool prospect Harvey Elliott is on loan at Blackburn Rovers and is making a name for himself in the Championship this season.

As Jurgen Klopp looks to refresh his squad once the annus horribilis that is 2020/21 is finally over, Elliott is one player who can step up and save Liverpool some cash in the covid-hit transfer market.

The Reds are very top-heavy when it comes to creative players in front of goal.

Mohamed Salah leads the way. The King of Egypt is joint top-scorer in the Premier League with 17 already this season.

But the next-best is a whopping ten goals behind, with Sadio Mane netting seven times in the league and nowhere near the level he was operating at last term.

Andrew Robertson and Roberto Firmino currently set the pace for assists, with five apiece.

But those are rookie numbers when compared with Elliott, with the midfielder already assisting his teammates ten times, albeit in England’s second tier.

The 17-year-old also has five goals to his name for a Blackburn side struggling in a tough league.

Blackburn sit mid-table and have only won once in their past seven outings ahead of their trip to Wycombe Wanderers this afternoon (3pm).

Elliott – living up to Liverpool’s hopes

It would seem a waste to leave Elliott to rough it in the Championship again next season.

The 17-year-old could end up being loaned to a team expected to hover around the bottom half of the Premier League. However, with the teenager showing so much promise at such a young age, surely he’s worth a punt in Liverpool’s first team?

The Championship is a notoriously tough league to play in, so to be making it look so easy is outstanding.

Eberechi Eze is an example of someone who made that step up from Championship to the Premier League appear easy.

The young winger joined Crsytal Palace for £16 million after getting 14 goals and eight assists in his last season at QPR.

Eze is now playing regularly in the Premier League for Palace and winning all the plaudits available.

By the time we get to next season, Klopp may be choosing from a new pool of players to get his team back on track. We think Elliott should be one of those names in the frame.
