Slovenia is a growing basketball nation, having won the EuroBasket title in 2017 and recently qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics after beating Lithuania. Dallas Mavericks youngster Luka Doncic is undoubtedly the star, but the team also has other NBA experience, including Zoran Dragic. Given the surname, people were curious to know if he is the brother of Goran Dragic.

Slovenia blitzes Argentina in opening Olympic game
Luka Doncic made a spectacular Olympics debut scoring 48 points for Slovenia against Argentina in their opening game.
It was Slovenia’s first ever Olympic basketball game, beating Argentina 118-100 on Monday.
Doncic’s points tally is only second to that of Brazilian Hall of Famer Oscar Schmidt, who scored 55 points in the a game during the 1988 Olympics.
Despite Doncic’s stellar game, fans noticed another familiar name within the Slovenian ranks – Zoran Dragic.

Is Slovenia’s Zoran Dragic the brother of Goran Dragic?
Luka is obviously the star for Slovenia, but the team isn’t short of NBA pedigree.
Zoran Dragic started in the game against Argentina, finishing with seven points and four rebounds.
Zoran is in fact the younger brother of Goran Dragic, who plays for the Miami Heat.

Zoran Dragic’s basketball career
Both Zoran and Goran Dragic played together for the Phoenix Suns.
In 2015 the brothers were traded to the Miami Heat together.
While Goran made an immediate impact, Zoran struggled, and spent time in the NBA Development League. He was traded to the Celtics and then later waived by the Cavs.
Since 2015 he has played throughout Europe.
In January 2020, Zoran Dragic officially signed with Liga ACB club Baskonia for the rest of the season.
