Ahead of the Cowboys’ visit to Tampa Bay, we take a look at Mike McCarthy’s wife Jessica Kress and their family of five.

The NFL Wild Card Round concludes with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Dallas Cowboys. The game will kick off at 8:15pm ET from Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida, and will air on ESPN and ESPN2.

The Cowboys finished the regular season with a 12-5 record but a surprise 6-26 loss to the Commanders in Week 18 could still be fresh in their minds. Despite having a chance at the NFC East division title, the loss, coupled with the Eagles beating the Giants, meant it was Philly who secured the No.1 seed.

The 8-9 Bucs, meanwhile, have had an up and down year. However, in Tom Brady they have a QB with more playoff experience than most teams. He is 7-0 against the Dallas Cowboys during his career.

Mike McCarthy met wife Jessica through the Packers organization

The man in charge in Dallas is Mike McCarthy, who is in his third season with the Cowboys. McCarthy was previously married to high school sweetheart, Christine, but the couple ultimately divorced. At the time of his divorce he had one teenage daughter, Alex.

Mike McCarthy’s wife is Jessica McCarthy (nee Kress), who is originally from Green Bay, and eight years Mike’s junior (he is 59). Like Mike, Jessica was previously married, reportedly to Packers board of directors member William Kress.

Jessica is an elementary school teacher and had two sons, Jack and George, from her previous relationship.

Mike and Jessica met when he was coaching the Packers, and was introduced to Jessica through Director of Football Operations John Schneider and his wife, Traci.

“We had a rough start,” Mike said. “We didn’t hit it off there for a while.”

Mike and Jessica have five children

However, the couple quickly grew found of one another and tied the knot in 2008 in a private ceremony in Arizona in front of Mike’s parents, daughter Alex, and Jessica’s sons.

Mike and Jessica have two daughters of their own, Gabrielle and Isabella, the latter of whom was born in 2011. They are therefore a family a five children, with Alex, Jack, George, Gabrielle and Isabella.

When daughter Gabrielle was born in 2008, McCarthy said, according to People Magazine, “It’s been 17 years since I have been through this, but I don’t remember doing a whole lot! I’ll carry the bag and make sure there is gas in the car, things like that. I can handle that.”

In 2022, Mike spoke about the importance of his family and how he finds joy in doing the small things, like driving his young daughters to Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano at least once a week.

“I’ve been coaching for almost 30 years in this league,” Mike said. “My kids were used to maybe seeing me after the game and then they may not see me until Thursday night. So that’s the life they grew up in,” he said. “The year off has taught me that I spent too much time away from my family. I’m trying to do things that I never did.”

Mike and Jessica McCarthy are extremely charitable with their time and resources, and set up the McCarthy Family Foundation, a charitable nonprofit. Together they have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local hospitals and charities.
