After the Bengals’ win vs the Chiefs we take a look at Joe Burrow’s parents Robin and Jim Burrow, who were hugely supportive of his career growing up.

The Cincinnati Bengals are heading to the Super Bowl after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. The Bengals overcame an 18-point deficit to clinch a 27-24 overtime win and their first AFC Championship since 1988.

Joe Burrow threw two touchdowns, completing 23 of 38 passes for 250 yards and one interception. With the win he became the first quarterback and former No. 1 overall pick to reach the Super Bowl in his first two seasons. After the game, we find out more about Joe Burrow’s parents Jim and Robin Burrow.

Joe Burrow’s parents; meet mom Robin

Joe Burrow’s parents are mom Robin and dad Jim Burrow. The Bengals QB has been close to his parents throughout his life and Robin sacrificed a lot for her son during his younger days.

Before transferring to LSU, Joe started his career at Ohio State and Robin would drive 70 miles from Athens to Columbus to do his laundry.

He admitted to the American Press it was “a little embarrassing” she did it for him but added he’d grown more independent while at LSU.

Robin travelled to almost every college game of Joe’s and that support has continued to his NFL career. His mom has cheered him on, although she isn’t a fan of all the sacks he took early in the season.

“You know, she doesn’t like them,” Burrow told Pro Football Talk. “But that’s how I play. She’s been watching it since I was in third grade. I can take a hit or two. She’s gotten used to it. I mean I go out there, lift and practise and feel fine,” Burrow said. “So, you know, obviously there’s a little treatment, a little massage here and there. My body feels great.”

Before he was drafted in 2020 Joe spent a tender moment with his mom, who is an elementary school principal. He recited the Pledge Of Allegiance with her as she spoke to her virtual classrooms at the start of the school day.

Joe’s dad Jim is just as famous as him

Jim Burrow, Joe’s dad, is a former football player and coach whose career has spanned four decades. Jimmy was also a football player, playing at Ole Miss before transferring to Nebraska. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the eighth round of the 1976 NFL draft, but played just three games as a cornerback.

Following his time with the Packers, he played in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes, the Calgary Stampeders, and the Ottawa Rough Riders.

The elder Burrow was a defensive co-ordinator for Ohio University from 2005 until 2018, when he retired. He was one of the longest-tenured co-ordinators in Division I football until he retired. Jimmy retired from Ohio University so he could watch more of Joe’s games and save Robin from travelling alone.
