The future of Harry Kane is set to be the dominant topic of Tottenham Hotspur’s summer. It may also hold the key to Daniel Levy attracting a world-class manager to the club.
The next Spurs manager certainly won’t be Julian Nagelsmann – and it doesn’t look likely to be Brendan Rodgers either.
Another major European club to sack their manager mid-season were Borussia Dortmund. But the Bundesliga outfit has already lined up Borussia Monchengladbach boss Marco Rose to take over at the end of the season:

Like Tottenham, Dortmund face uncertainty and rumours about the future of their best player – Erling Haaland.
His name is linked to every major team in Europe that needs a striker.
But reports in Germany claim Rose has already been assured Haaland will stay beyond this summer.
Surely he wouldn’t have taken the job otherwise?

Spurs must keep Kane
But Levy can’t, as yet, offer the same assurances to any manager he wants to come in at Tottenham.
What manager would want to undertake a Spurs squad overhaul with the risk of his best player being sold instantly?
You could argue the monster transfer fee Kane would command would allow that manager to revamp the whole squad. But surely most bosses would rather have the England captain than the cash?
Selling Kane would mean adding a striker to a shopping list that already includes a right-back, central defender, creative midfielder and wide man. The future of Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris will need to be addressed within the next 12 months too.
