Why is Montrezl Harrell not playing? Lakers fans are growing frustrated as Monrezl Harrell is not getting minutes despite their struggles. They took to social media to ask why Harrell isn’t playing more.

Montrezl Harell lashes out on Twitter

Montrezl Harrell has struggled to make an impact on the Los Angeles Lakers’ first-round series versus the Phoenix Suns.

In Sunday’s Game 4 loss, Harrell took to social media to express his frustration after playing just five minutes.

He tweeted: ‘Worst f****** feeling is wasted time!’

Why is Montrezl Harrell not playing in Game 5?

Despite averaging nearly 23 minutes during the regular season and ranking as the Lakers’ fourth leading scorer with 13.5 points per game, Harrell has completely fallen out of head coach Frank Vogel’s rotation in the playoffs.

His minutes have instead gone to either Andre Drummond and Marc Gasol, as Monterzl’ size is thought to concern Vogel when matching up with Deandre Ayton.

In Game 5 on Tuesday, Harrell’s minutes continued to be limited. He scored 9 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play as Vogel focused his attention on stopping Ayton.

Montrezl Harrell is not a traditional big man and is undersized for his position. This is why Gasol and Drummond have been selected for the physical matchup with the Suns center.

But with the Lakers down 3-2 in the series, it’s clear things aren’t working and Vogel needs to go to his bench more than he’s doing.
