When was the last time the New York Knicks made the playoffs? The Knicks secured their playoff spot this week and people want to know when the last time they made the postseason was.

The New York Knicks secured a winning record for the season this week, and, with Boston’s loss to the Cavs on Wednesday night, ensured a top-six seed.

Crucially, it also means they avoid the dreaded play-in tournament, and can now concentrate on their last few games of the season and finishing as high as possible.

It is also the first time in eight years the Knicks will finish with a regular season record over .500.

When was the last time the NY Knicks made the playoffs?

The last time the NY Knicks made the playoffs was the 2012-13 season.

Back then, Mike Woodson was the head coach and Carmelo Anthony was the Knicks’ franchise player. Carmelo averaged a team-high 28.7 points per game with 2.6 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game in the regular season.

Previously the Knicks had made the playoffs in both 2011 and 2012, which was their first appearances in the postseason since 2004. On both occasions they lost in the first round.

In the 2012-13 playoffs, the Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics in six games in the first round. They eventually lost the conference semifinals to the Indiana Pacers in six games.

Therefore, since the 2000-01 season, the Knicks have made the playoffs just five times, including this season.
