Here’s what product Rigorer is after Lakers guard Austin Reaves became the brand’s first ever NBA endorser.
The Lakers shooting guard was one of the few positives in an otherwise dismal season for the Lakers. The Purple & Gold failed to make the play-in tournament, let alone the playoffs, and amid all the roster issues 23-year-old Reaves was one of the shining lights.
Austin Reaves recently signed a deal with Rigorer, making him the brand’s first NBA endorser. But what is Rigorer? Let’s find out more.
Austin Reaves becomes Rigorer’s first NBA endorser
Per ESPN writer Nick DePaula, the Lakers shooting guard recently signed a multi-year shoe deal with Rigorer. In doing so, Reaves became the Chinese brand’s first ever NBA endorser, potentially paving the way for others to follow.
He will reportedly wear the War Ender 1.0 Pro silhouette next season. DePaula shared an image of Austin Reaves with the Rigorer shoes:
What is Rigorer?
For many fans this was the first time hearing about the brand. Rigorer is a Chinese sporting goods brand, founded in 2014 by former CBA professional basketball player Lin Chenyao. It is primarily engaged in development, design, manufacture and sale of sports products.
According to the Rigorer website: “We are a sporting goods brand that specialises in basketball products and offers an extensive range of protection gear. At Rigorer we believe in quality, our products are carefully and purposefully designed with performance and quality as a priority so we may provide what our athletes truly need.
“Rigorer’s brand motto is ‘For basketball players by basketball players’. As fellow lovers of the game, we understand what our community really needs and with that knowledge we can effectively craft the perfect range of gear that fits every basketball player’s needs and believe we can take their game to even greater heights.”
Austin Reaves’ career and season with the Lakers
After a four-year college career that included stints at Wichita State and Oklahoma, Reaves went unselected in the 2021 NBA Draft. He eventually signed a two-way contract with the Lakers on 3 August 2021.
The 6ft 5in guard made his NBA debut on 22 October 2021, scoring eight points on 3-of-4 shooting. Amid the Lakers’ struggles, Reaves proved himself a dependable and reliable bench option. He even hit a clutch triple for the overtime win against the Mavericks in December:
In the final game of the Lakers’ season, Reaves notched the first triple-double of his career. He put up career highs in points, rebounds, and assists (31 points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists) in a win against the Nuggets.
LA will need players like Reaves on minimum contracts so it makes sense Rigorer would want to partner with someone like him. He’s playing in the biggest sports market in America alongside one of the most marketable athletes in the world in LeBron James.
That’s some pretty good exposure.
