Skip Bayless has declared the Lakers have a new closer after their 103-100 victory against the Warriors last night. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the closer is not LeBron. Let’s see what Skip Bayless said.
The Lakers squared off against the Warriors last night in the NBA play-in tournament and it may well be the game of the season so far.
The Lakers just about edged it, thanks to a speculative three-pointer from LeBron down the stretch. James said after the game that he was “seeing three rims” before taking the shot after an accidental eye poke from Draymond Green.
However, it wasn’t LeBron or AD who were getting the plaudits after the game. One of the Lakers’ unsung heroes, Alex Caruso, caught the attention of Skip Bayless, who anointed him their new closer.

Down the stretch it wasn’t Davis or LeBron who the Lakers were relying on.
Alex Caruso’s strong performance was a key aspect of the Lakers W, and while potentially taking a shot at LeBron, Skip Bayless declared Alex Caruso the new Lakers’ closer.
Twitter praises Alex Caruso
Skip Bayless wasn’t the only one singing Caruso’s praises.
Most fans watching the game were commenting on Caruso’s night and how effective he was against the Warriors.

After the game, LeBron James was quick to sing the praises of Caruso.
In his post-match video conference, James said of him: “His attention to detail is just wise, very wise, and he knows what he wants to do.
“Always in the right place at the right time. He just plays, he just plays. Some of them appear in the box score, but some don’t.
“But tonight, they definitely appeared in the box score, which means he had to carry us almost aggressively in the first half and rival him in the second half.”

Caruso on performance vs the Warriors
Caruso was a crucial part of the Lakers’ victory.
He scored 12 out of 14 points by half-time, including two three-pointers.
With the Warriors defense sagging off, Caruso knew he had to take full advantage.
“I was just trying to score aggressively,” Caruso said in a video conference.
“They didn’t play me because I think they were playing (probably not a rude way) and some of our guards because they were so worried about AD. So I think I got some layups during the transition.
“Kickout open three I knew I would have. And in the other corner ready for a shot.
“Opportunistic, just do what I’m doing.”
The Lakers will now face the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.
