Before and after the recent game between the Warriors and Cavaliers, Klay Thompson and Kevin Love shared a special moment. Interestingly, the pair go way back, and have known each other since they were kids.
It’s been 941 days since NBA fans last saw Klay Thompson suit up for the Golden State Warriors. But on Sunday night the Splash Brother returned for his first game since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
The 31-year-old 3x NBA champion tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in 2019, before tearing his right Achilles tendon during his recovery.

Thompson scores 17 points on first game back
Thompson scored 17 points on his return as he helped the Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 96-82. Klay needed just 40 seconds to record his first basket, and within the half had already thrown down a vicious dunk and landed his first three-pointer.
Klay finished 7-for-18 overall from the field including 3-for-8 on 3-pointers. He had 17 points in 20 minutes and added three rebounds, one assist and a block.
“I’m never going to forget this night,” Thompson told NBA TV, as he reached 12,000 points and 1,800 three-pointers for his career.
Kevin Love and Klay Thompson share special moment before and after the game
The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have a historic rivalry, meeting in four straight NBA Finals between 2015-2018. Thompson and the Warriors won three of those Finals, but Kevin Love was part of the historic Cavs team with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving that came from 1-3 down in 2016 to win the title.
Kevin Love and Klay Thompson actually go way back (more on this in a minute) and shared a touching moment before and after yesterday’s game. Love was spotted at the scorers table hugging Thompson upon his return, and the pair shared a touching moment after the game too.
Klay Thompson and Kevin Love are former Little League teammates
Klay Thompson and Kevin Love have actually known each other since they were kids, and are even former Little League teammates.
Thompson and Love actually went to school together in Oregon before Klay moved to southern California. The two starred for the Lake Oswego All-Stars and nearly earned a berth in the Little League World Series, according to Hoops Nostalgia. There is also a photo of the pair in the same team.
The Warriors also uploaded a video recently where Klay recounted the time when he hit Kevin Love with a pitch. Check it out.
