Ja Morant’s rookie card with Young Dolph and Key Glock goes viral

Ja Morant’s rookie card, which features rappers Young Dolph and Key Glock in the background, has gone viral.

The card is #116 on the Chronicles checklist – Morant’s 2019/20 Panini card – and features the Memphis star flexing his muscles. In the background you can clearly see Young Dolph sitting just behind the cameraman. Standing next to him in the orange pants is Key Glock, who is Dolph’s cousin.

One person shared a picture of the Ja Morant rookie card on social media and it received more than 211k likes.

Prices of Ja Morant’s rookie card have soared

Prices for Ja Morant’s rookie card featuring Young Dolph and Key Glock have soared in recent days. Some of the cards are going for at least $150 and rising to more than $300.

One of the reasons is likely because many of the rappers’ fans will be purchasing their own cards. Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis on 17 November 2021. He was 36.

The shooting reportedly took place at a bakery, with owner Maurice Hill saying Young Dolph walked into the store to buy some cookies when someone drove up, shot and killed him (via Rolling Stone).

Dolph’s tragic death is likely to have had a huge impact on the price of Ja’s rookie card as fans love the fact he is now immortalised on it.

Morant shines in Game 2 win vs Warriors

Ja Morant erupted for 47 points in Game 2 of the Grizzlies’ Western Conferences semis match-up with the Warriors. Memphis bounced back from the disappointing Game 1 loss to even the series at 1-1.

Morant’s playoff career-high 47 points means he joins LeBron James and Kobe Bryant as the only players in history to record multiple 45-point playoff games before the age of 23.
