The latest addition in Netflix’s Untold sports documentary series is here with Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1.

AND1 was extremely popular among basketball and sneakerheads alike in the 1990s and 2000s, rising to become one of the biggest basketball brand in America.

Netflix’s documentary, which drops today (August 23) chronicles how a graduate school project partnership between Jay Coen Gilbert, Seth Berger, and Tom Austin became the AND1 brand, and how, ultimately, it fell.

The Professor features in AND1 documentary

Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1 features a number of brand ambassadors and streetball legends such as Hot Sauce, Skip 2 My Lou, The Main Event, and Shane the Dribbling Machine.

However, perhaps the most famous streetball player to appear in the Netflix documentary is The Professor, aka Grayson Boucher.

How Grayson got involved in AND1

AND1 as sportswear brand started specialising in basketball shoes in 1993. Later, they would start making apparel, and as part of their marketing would give away mixtapes featuring streetball players doing stunts.

The AND1 Mixtape Tour, presented by AND1 and featuring streetball legends, soon spawned. Essentially, the tour featured a group of streetball players who would travel from town to town and challenge teams composed of local talent.

Grayson, from Oregon, attended the AND1 Mixtape Tour when the team stopped in Portland for a visit and wound up earning a role on the team.

A year later he was given a contract and featured heavily in AND1’s world tours, as well as multiple mix tapes, DVDs, and commercials.

What is Grayson Boucher aka The Professor’s net worth?

Grayson left AND1 in 2011 and played streetball for Ball Up, which, like AND1, saw teams travel to US cities in search of a new street-ball superstar.

These days, Grayson has moved into acting, appearing in the film Semi-Pro, starring Will Ferrell, and the role of Sticky in film Ball Don’t Lie.

More recently, Boucher appeared in Adam Sandler’s Netflix film Hustle. In the film he played Bo Cruz’ (Juancho Hernangomez) dribbling tutor.

His YouTube channel, Professor Live, has over 6.88m followers. A recent video of his features him talking about his cameo as well as playing streetball with Adam Sandler.

The talented basketball player also has over 4.4m followers on Instagram.

Despite never making the NBA, he has had a stellar career using his skills. The Professor Grayson Boucher’s net worth in 2022 is estimated between $2-3 million.
