Juancho Hernangomez is the star of new Netflix film Hustle. The 26-year-old Utah Jazz star plays Bo Cruz, a young Spanish streetball player who’s scouted by Adam Sandler’s character and thrown into the big leagues.
Fans are curious about the new star and many didn’t realise Juancho Hernangomez’s brother, Willy Hernangomez, also plays in the NBA.

Juancho Hernangomez’s brother is Willy Hernangomez
After watching the new film, some seasoned NBA fans wondered whether Juancho Hernangomez and Willy Hernangomez were related. The NBA is full of international players these days but their relatively rare surname prompted curiosity.
Of course they are related – Juancho Hernangomez and Willy Hernangomez are brothers. Willy is the eldest and currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans having previously played for Real Madrid.
They come from a family of basketball players
The brothers come from a family of basketball players. Their mother, Margarita “Wonny” Geuer Draeger, who was born in Seville and has German origins, was an international basketball player.
She won a European Championship with Spain in 1993. Furthermore their father, Guillermo Hernángomez Heredero, also played for Real Madrid and the Spanish national team. Their younger sister, Andrea, plays for Fairfield Stags, ESPN reports.
Willy Hernangomez’s career so far
Willy Hernangomez started his career at Real Madrid, where he emerged as a promising youngster. He declared for the 2015 NBA Draft and was selected with the 35th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, his rights were later traded to the New York Knicks.
He has spent time playing with the Hornets and Pelicans. Willy has also has featured for the Spanish national team, winning a bronze medal in the 2016 Olympics.
Juancho Hernangomez has bounced around the league
The former Boston Celtics forward was traded to the San Antonio Spurs as part of the three-way deal in January. The Spaniard was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 15th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He has gone on to play for the Timberwolves, Grizzlies, Celtics, Spurs, and Jazz.
In truth, the 26-year-old has bounced around the league quite a bit and never truly cemented himself in any rotation. He was traded to the Utah Jazz in a three-team trade on 9 February 2022.
