Kyle Larson secured a maiden NASCAR Cup Series title at Phoenix on Sunday, with his wife and children celebrating with him in Victory Lane. Who is his wife, Katelyn, and how did she celebrate Kyle’s success?

In ways, Kyle Larson winning the 2021 Cup Series title was both surprising and almost inevitable – given his dominance over the field this year.

It was surprising because on the longer green flag runs at Phoenix, the Hendrick duo of Larson and Chase Elliott were out-paced by the Joe Gibbs title contenders – Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin.

Hendrick seemed to be better on short runs, although a caution with 30 laps to go reset the race.

Larson’s team put in their second-fastest stop of the season in, and that was that.

The #5 held off Truex Jr to claim his 10th win of the season and a maiden Cup Series title.

In Victory Lane, Larson celebrated with his team and family, with his wife partaking in a very unusual celebration of her own.

Who is Kyle Larson’s wife, Katelyn?

Larson is married to marathon runner and former equestrian athlete Katelyn Sweet.

The two met in the early-2010s, with the couple getting engaged in late December 2017.

They were married in September 2018.

The Larsons are parents to two children – one boy and one girl.

Their son, Owen was born in December 2014, with his sister Audrey arriving in May 2018.

Katelyn was already accustomed to the NASCAR scene when she met Kyle, thanks to her brother.

Brad Sweet competed in the lower rungs of NASCAR himself.

He has out a successful career as a World of Outlaw sprint driver – winning the title in 2019 and 2020.

How did she celebrate the Cup title win?

Katelyn Larson has a well-worn tradition of shot gunning a can of beer when Kyle has won.

On the podium at Phoenix, she delivered once again, chugging down a can of Busch Light.

In the past, she’s done it at the official NASCAR awards ceremony, and done it for a second time later in the night at Phoenix.
