It’s no secret journalist Danielle Trotta is a NASCAR enthusiast, but did you know her husband shares the same passion?

The 41-year-old broadcaster is married to Robby Benton, a former professional stock car racing driver who competed in the NASCAR Busch Series. Given that Trotta was co-host of NASCAR Race Hub, we’d say the couple are a pretty good match.

Who is Danielle Trotta’s husband?

My Dream Car host Danielle Trotta’s partner is 42-year-old Robby Benton.

Much like his wife, Benton is extremely involved in the NASCAR world and, as of 2018, serves as team manager of Team Penske’s NASCAR teams.

At the time, Robby told Speedway Digest: “I’m very happy to join an operation like Team Penske. I’m honoured to receive this opportunity and I hope I can help the organisation as they continue to expand their NASCAR operations.”

Before that, Benton was an owner in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and also served as a professional stock car racing driver, competing in the NASCAR Busch, Truck and East Series.

Danielle Trotta and Robby Benton’s relationship

Danielle Trotta uses her social media profiles to document career highlights, but she’s also pretty open about her relationship with Robby Benton.

As per her Instagram, Trotta and Benton have been together for seven years after being ‘set up’ by NASCAR sports analyst Larry McReynolds in 2014. Reportedly, the two were set up on a blind date and later realised they often hung out at the same bar.

“He doesn’t remember ever seeing me, I don’t remember ever seeing him,” Danielle recalled. “Because I had no reason to go into the bar area. Had I been a bartender, maybe we would have met ten years earlier!”

Celebrating their time together in 2021, the My Dream Car host wrote: “Seven years together, no itch! Good sign for things to come.

“My entire life changed with one blind date. Will always be thankful to @larrymac28 for setting us up. America’s Crew Chief is batting a 1,000 in the love dept.”

For Valentine’s Day 2022, Trotta shared a heartfelt post: “Read article from the longest-running married couple, he’s 104 she’s 100. Married 83 years. Their advice; make each other your biggest priority and get over the bad things quickly.

“If I could get 83 with this man that still wouldn’t be enough, but we’ll make the years we have count. Happy Valentine’s Day my love.”

The couple tied the knot in 2018 and celebrated three years of marriage last October.

My Dream Car host and husband share a passion

It’s no wonder Benton and Trotta have managed almost a decade together, given their shared interest in NASCAR.

If you didn’t know, prior to her hosting gig on My Dream Car, Danielle was co-host of NASCAR Race Hub and pre-race show NASCAR RaceDay for Xfinity Series events on Fox Sports 1.

Although Trotta is a big name in the NASCAR world now, she didn’t always have a passion for auto racing. Speaking to the Charlotte Observer, the journalist shared: “A lot of people that cover racing grew up wanting to cover racing. (But), I mean, my dad’s from the Bronx. People don’t talk about NASCAR there.

“I think once we moved to Indianapolis, he was like, ‘Let’s go to the Indy 500.’ So we’d go as a family. Then we lived there in 1994 for the first Brickyard 400. Jeff Gordon won the race, and he really identified with Jeff. Jeff became his driver. So he’d bring us to some NASCAR races.”
