Sergio Perez finished third at his home grand prix in Mexico City for Red Bull but who is his wife Carola Martinez, and do they have any children?

It was a tricky start to Perez’s home grand prix weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

He had a chat with a barrier after a crash early in first practice.

In the low grip conditions, Perez lost control exiting the stadium section near the end of the lap.

He damaged the rear wing, and pitted.

He qualified fourth as Red Bull fluffed on Saturday afternoon, but ran strongly to third on Sunday behind teammate Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

It is the first time a Mexican driver has stood on the podium at a grand prix held in Mexico.

Who is Sergio Perez’s wife, Carola?

Perez married Carola Martinez in Mexico back in June 2018, in-between the Monaco and Canadian Grands Prix that year.

The pair had met the previous year.

Interestingly 25-year-old Carola and two-time F1 race winner Sergio both hail from Guadalajara, about 350 miles from Mexico City.

As both come from Christian backgrounds, Perez and Martinez’s marriage was blessed by Pope Francis.

Not much is known about Carola’s life before she met Perez.

Although she does now routinely post updates now on social media following Perez around the globe.

Do they have any children?

Sergio Perez and his wife Carola are parents to two children – one boy and one girl.

Their first born child was a son born in December 2017.

His name in Sergio Perez Jr.

Perez Jr’s sister, Carlota was born in September 2019.

Her birth was the week before the Singapore Grand Prix in which Perez posted a DNF after an oil leak.
