Sebastian Vettel has announced that he will retire from Formula One at the end of the 2022 season. But how many kids does Sebastian Vettel have? Meet his wife Hanna Prater and their family.

The four-time world champion announced the news on 28 July on his newly-created Instagram account.

The German said in the video: “I hereby announce my retirement from F1 by the end of the 2022 season. Probably I should start with a long list of people to thank now, but I feel it is more important to explain the reasons behind my decision.

“I love this sport. It has been central to my life since I can remember, but as much as there is life on track, there is my life off track too. Being a racing driver has never been my sole identity. I very much believe in identity: by who we are and how we treat others, rather than what we do.”

The F1 driver made his debut in 2007 and currently drives for Aston Martin. Vettel won four titles with Red Bull between 2010-2013 before joining Ferrari in 2015. He stayed with the Scuderia until 2020, joining Aston Martin the following year.

Sebastian Vettel’s wife and family

Seb did not reveal his plans for the future, but admitted he wanted to spend more time with his family.

“At the end of the year I want to take some more time to reflect on what I will focus on next,” he said. “It is very clear to me that, being a father, I want to spend more time with my family. But today is not about saying goodbye. Rather, it is about saying thank you – to everyone – not least to the fans, without whose passionate support Formula One could not exist.”

Sebastian Vettel’s wife is Hanna Prater, who he first met in 2006. Hanna is a former industrial design student and her and Sebastian were schoolmates together in Heppenheim, Germany. The pair dated for a long time before tying the knot in 2019 in a private ceremony.

Hanna Prater previosly worked for Look Magazine and S.Oliver fashion house. She has been a housewife since marrying Sebastian in 2019, helping to raise their children. The F1 driver keeps his family life private and is rarely seen publicly with them.

Who are Sebastian Vettel’s kids?

Sebastian Vettel has three kids with Hanna Prater. Their first child, Emilie, was born on 12 January 2014. They had a second daughter, Mathilda, in September 2015, and a third child, a boy, was born in 2019.

Sebastian was absent from the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s media day so he could be with Hanna in Switzerland as the couple welcomed their third child.

In 2021 Vettel revealed how fatherhood had changed his personality. He remarked he was more aware of his emotions and setting a good example to his young children.

Speaking about learning to control his emotions he said (via F1 Insider): “I also want to set a certain language for my children. But emotions remain important. Especially in sports.”

“Sometimes you’re happy, sometimes angry, sometimes sad. There’s no shame in showing that too. But the decisive factor is the way it is done.”
