Alpine’s Esteban Ocon has won the 2021 Hungarian GP after an exhilarating afternoon at the Hungaroring. It is the first victory in the Frenchman’s F1 career, and it couldn’t have been possible without the help of his mother and father. Esteban Ocon’s parents made huge sacrifices when he was a youngster to help him reach his dreams.

A chaotic first corner saw Hamilton briefly leading Ocon before the red flag was waived.

When the race restarted, Hamilton was the only car who hadn’t made a pit stop. The Brit stopped at the end of the next lap, leaving Ocon in P1 to fend off Vettel for the rest of the race.

Ocon drove superbly to earn his first win in F1, making him the 111th different driver to earn a victory.

Who are Ocon’s parents?

Esteban Ocon’s father is Laurent Ocon and his mother is Sabrine Khelfane.

His dad’s garage and how they supported Esteban

Esteban Ocon’s dad had a small garage in Evreux, France, where he sold cars and repaired them.

Speaking about his parent’s sacrifice, Ocon said: “All the top drivers were in teams but we had a small truck, the same one my father worked with.

“At one point my father sold our house and we were living in a caravan. After the races I was sleeping in front of the school in the caravan, to go to school in the morning.”

At 13-years-old, Gravity Sports Management, a sister company of Renault F1 team, supported Esteban and helped him achieve his dream of reaching F1.

However, it couldn’t have been possible without his parent’s sacrifices.
