During a recent MLB game, the Atlanta Braves mascot dressed as Dr Disrespect. But who is Dr Disrespect and why did Blooper dress up as him?
Who is Dr Disrespect?
Dr Disrespect, or Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, is a hugely popular video-game streamer who has accumulated millions of views.
Beahm was originally a multiplayer map designer for Sledgehammer Games – one of the developers of the Call of Duty series – and designed many of the maps in Advanced Warfare.
However, ‘The Doc’, or ‘The Two-Time Champion’ as he is now known, eventually made the switch to full-time live streaming.
It was there he first donned the outfit of his alter ego, Dr Disrespect.
Dr Disrespect, who often live streams himself playing Call of Duty and Fortnite, is a brash and bombastic character, seen as more of an entertainer than a streamer.
ESPN describes him as a “WWE character in the competitive gaming world” and his appearance is just as eccentric as his reactions and behaviour.
The Dr Disrespect character wears a black wig, sunglasses and sports an impressive moustache.
Braves mascot dresses as Dr Disrespect
On 11 October, MLB’s Atlanta Braves faced the Milwaukee Brewers in a playoff game.
During the game, the Atlanta Braves’ mascot, Blooper, was seen dressed as Dr Disrespect, rocking shades, a red vest, and his signature moustache.
Blooper even adopted many of Dr Disrespect’s mannerisms.
After the game, he uploaded a photo of himself in full Dr Disrespect costume with his signature catchphrase “snap em up yayayayaya”.
He added: “I’m gonna need to see 42 million fans packed in the arena today. Minimum.”
Why did the mascot dress as Dr Disrespect?
It may seem like a bizarre crossover but it appears Blooper the mascot went full Dr Disrespect to celebrate the return of the Doctober Halloween contest.
The streamer started his Halloween cosplay contest, ‘Doctober’, in 2019.
During the contest, ‘The Doc’ rewards fans with prizes for coming up with the best and most interesting costumes.
The Two-Time recently announced the 2021 Halloween cosplay contest and it seems as though Blooper is trying to get a jump on the competition.
The Doc seemed to appreciate Blooper’s efforts too, retweeting the video to his millions of fans.
