Dodgers have ‘lost an icon’

“We have lost an icon,” Dodgers president and chief executive Stan Kasten said in a statement.

“Vin Scully was one of the greatest voices in all of sports. He was a giant of a man, not only as a broadcaster but as a humanitarian. He loved people, he loved life, he loved baseball and the Dodgers. And he loved his family.

“His voice will always be heard and etched in all of our minds forever. I know he was looking forward to joining the love of his life, Sandi. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time. Vin will be truly missed.”

The Dodgers shared several tributes to its social media accounts. One included a video montage with the caption: “There will never be another Vin Scully. You will be forever missed.”

How many children did Vin Scully have?

Vin and his first wife, Joan Crawford, were married for almost 15 years before she passed away in 1972 at the age of 35. The couple had three children.

Scully’s eldest son, Michael, died in a helicopter crash at the age of 33 while working for the ARCO Transportation Company. He was inspecting oil pipelines for leaks near Fort Tejon, California, in the immediate aftermath of the Northridge earthquake in January 1994.

In total, Vin Scully had four children. A year after his first wife Joan’s death, Vin remarried. He tied the knot with Sandra Hunt, who had two children of her own, in 1973. The couple also had a child of their own together, daughter Catherine, who was Vin’s fourth child overall.

In 2015, Vin Scully appeared with wife Sandi and sons Kevin and Todd before a Dodgers game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
