Tonia Couch’s boyfriend Jordan Adam Maycock proudly stands alongside her on Instagram as the former diver proves a hit with viewers on BBC Sports’ coverage of the European Athletics Championships.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games took place in Birmingham, England, this month to the delight of athletics fans around the world.

Swimming, gymnastics, and athletics dominated the multi-sport event, which rolls around once every four years. Following on from the Commonwealth Games is the European Athletics Championships from Munich, Germany, which runs from August 11 to 21.

One new face on the BBC Sports sofa in recent weeks has been Tonia Couch, who has gone down a storm with fans.

Who is Tonia Couch?

Tonia Couch is a former diver who started at just ten years old. In 2009, she competed at the World Championships and then the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

Tonia and partner Sarah Barrow won European gold in 2012 in addition to finishing fifth in the London 2012 Olympics.

Couch then competed in Rio with new partner Lois Toulson, placing fifth in the 10m synchro final. In 2018, she retired from diving before transitioning into TV work, including appearing in the BBC Sport studio as a diving pundit.

Tonia has been extremely well received by fans and is expected to stay on and cover diving for future events on the BBC such as the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
