CrossFit athlete Mat Fraser has just announced his retirement from the sport. In a shock announcement the five-times CrossFit Games champion stated that he needed to focus more on his family life. We take a closer look at Mat Fraser’s net worth, wife and his impressive career.
Who is Mat Fraser?
Mathew Fraser is a leading CrossFit athlete who was the first person to win five consecutive CrossFit Games titles.
He won the coveted Fittest Man on Earth title from 2016-2020, beating Rich Froning’s previous record of four. Spurred on by the disappointment of placing in second in 2014 and 2015, he sought to transform his training regimen to become CrossFit’s top competitor.
Fraser is 31 years old and trained to be an Olympic weightlifter before finding CrossFit.
There has been some shock within the CrossFit community as Fraser announced his retirement yesterday; many people feel he is still at his physical peak.
However, Fraser has decided to move away from the sport to focus more on his family. He has stated:
“The hard work paid off. But now, I’m ready to make decisions based on how they affect my family, friends, health, and happiness, not only my performance.”
You will now be seeing more of Mat Fraser online rather than at competitions. He shared his plans to construct a home gym and start his own YouTube channel with his partner, Sammy.
What is Mat Fraser’s net worth?
According to CelebrityNetWorth Mat Fraser’s net worth is $2.5 million.
Each CrossFit Games title is worth $300,000 and Fraser has won five titles in total.
Meet Mat Fraser’s wife
Sammy Moniz has been dating Mat Fraser for many years now. However, the pair are not actually married.
The couple are engaged and have not tied the knot just yet. However, with Mat retiring to take more time for his family, this could be happening soon.
Moniz was previously the Director of Athlete Relations at Loud & Live, as well as an Athlete Manager for professional CrossFit athletes.
She posts recipes that she has tried and tested on her fiancé. Keep your eye out for a cookbook in the near future.
The pair own a house in Cookeville, Tenessee and look to be very much in love. We wish then luck with their future plans outside of the CrossFit arena.
