Three Manchester City players have been named in Whoscored‘s Champions League team of the week, but goalscorer Gabriel Jesus failed to make the cut.

City beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 in Germany last night thanks to goals from Jesus and Bernardo Silva.

Not only did Silva score, he also set up the Brazilian for his goal. Therefore, the 26-year-old’s place came as not surprise.

Joao Cancelo was another man who got an assist against the German side, setting up Silva in the 29th-minute. Which again, explains why the full-back was named.

Cancelo has been consistent all season, averaging a Whoscored rating of 7.34 out of 10 across all competitions.

Kyle Walker, a less obvious choice

The third City player to get his name in the team of the week was Kyle Walker, who was a less obvious choice.

The Englishman’s defensive stats speak for themselves.

Walker maintained a passing accuracy of 91% and made three tackles from his right-back position.

All three City players clearly earned their spot in the team of the week and Pep Guardiola will now be looking ahead to his next match against West Ham on Saturday 12.30pm.

City – flawless against the Hammers

Guardiola’s next challenge is taking on David Moyes’ West Ham in the Premier League.

City have been flawless against the Irons in recent history, with the Manchester side winning five of the last six meetings, drawing once.

The last time the two teams met it was a 1-1 draw, with City dominating most of the match but an early goal from Michail Antonio was enough for West Ham to hang on to.

With this latest victory in the Champions League, Guardiola is sure to be full of confidence going into the Hammers clash and will expect nothing but a win from his side.
