Here’s what we know about Kris Letang’s wife Catherine Laflamme and their family after the Penguins star recently suffered a stroke.

According to multiple reports, Penguins star Kris Letang will be out indefinitely after suffering a stroke on Monday (28 November 2022).

General Manager Ron Hextall revealed the 35-year-old defenseman is not experiencing any lasting effects of the stroke and will continue to undergo a series of tests.

ESPN reports that Letang was taken to a hospital Monday after telling team trainers he was dealing with a ‘migraine headache.’ Hextall said Letang did not know he had a stroke but “just knew something wasn’t right.

“I am fortunate to know my body well enough to recognize when something isn’t right,” Letang said in a statement. “While it is difficult to navigate this issue publicly, I am hopeful it can raise awareness. It is important for me that my teammates, family and the fans know that I am okay. I am optimistic that I will be back on the ice soon.”

He suffered his first stroke in 2014

Letang has played for the Penguins since 2007, and has guided the team to three Stanley Cup championships. However, Letang was born with a tiny hole in the wall of his heart that was only discovered after suffering a stroke in 2014.

He missed over two months due to the stroke but has since gone on to play 543 regular-season games and make 69 playoff appearances.
