The iconic motorsport driver was tragically killed in a snowmobile accident recently. Ken Block’s daughter, Lia, is following in her father’s footsteps and following her passion as a racing car driver.
Pro rally driver Ken Block was killed in a snowmobile accident on Monday, it has been announced. The 55-year-old, known for his daring video stunts online, was pronounced dead at the scene in Utah after the snowmobile he was riding upended and fell on top of him.
His team Hoonigan Racing confirmed the tragic news on Monday.
“It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today,” Hoonigan wrote on Instagram.
“Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.”
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office in Utah confirmed Block’s death in a statement published on Facebook.
Block was riding on a steep slope in the Mill Hollow area outside Woodland, Utah at around 2:00 p.m. when his snowmobile “upended, landing on top of him,” police said.
Ken competed in the World Rally Championship, and also competed in other sports including skateboarding, snowboarding, and motorcross during his iconic career.
Block was also one of the co-founders of DC Shoes and produced the popular Gymkhana video series on YouTube.

Ken Block is survived by his wife Lucy and three children. Lucy and Ken married in 2004, and lived together for over 15 years.
Lucy is a rally driver and has also founded her own company, Luna’s Kitchen, according to The Sun.
Ken shared a Christmas photo with his family over the holidays. ‘Merry Christmas from the Blocks, from Baldface Lodge!’ he wrote.
Ken’s oldest daughter Lia has a passion for racing
Ken and Lucy Block have three daughters, the oldest being Lia, who is a 16-year-old driver. Ken’s last Instagram post before his death featured Lia stood in front of an Audi for a video series on his YouTube channel.
‘The 4th and final episode of my 16-year-old daughter Lia buying, tearing down, rebuilding and now driving her ‘85 Audi Ur Quattro will be live at 8am PST tomorrow on my YouTube channel’, he wrote.
Lia is a car enthusiast like her father and has a large following on Instagram. According to her Instagram bio, she has won the ARA National Championship and UMC Kart Championship.

A video series on her father’s YouTube channel shows Lia buying a ‘80s Audi Ur-Quattro and improving it over time. The first video was uploaded in September 2022.
Ken wrote: ‘My 15-year-old daughter Lia got her drag racing license before she could even apply for her learner’s permit. Even though she’s cleared to launch the 1,400hp Hoonicorn she can’t drive herself to school! But that’s about to change cuz in October Lia will turn 16 and get her driver’s license’.
