Kamil Grosicki can be added to West Bromwich Albion’s Premier League squad if his proposed move to Nottingham Forest collapses, according to the Express & Star.

Forest tried to get a one-year loan for the winger over the line on transfer deadline day, but despite Grosicki agreeing terms the paperwork was submitted 21 seconds after the 5pm cut-off point.

Now almost a week on, lawyers for Chris Hughton’s side are still trying to convince the EFL to rubber-stamp the move.

But if the deal doesn’t go through, Baggies boss Slaven Bilic can welcome him back as they only named 24 players in their squad announcement on Tuesday.

Grosicki could go despite late forms

The Athletic’s West Brom reporter Steve Madeley tweeted claiming Forest were hoping to exploit a loophole in the rules.

Madeley claims as the relevant forms were submitted at 5.00pm and not 5.01pm, the East Midlands side remain hopeful of getting Kamil Grosicki in.

The issues echo Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva getting registered at Leicester 14 seconds late after a £22m summer move.

Silva wasn’t allowed to play until the January transfer window reopened, and played just 14 league games across two seasons before leaving in October.

Hughton hoping for ‘good news’

New Forest manager Hughton, who has four points from his first two games after replacing Sabri Lamouchi, told the Nottingham Post the club ‘certainly hope it will be good news’ on the transfer.

Experienced Polish international Grosicki, who helped West Brom achieve automatic promotion last campaign, would be the club’s 15th summer signing.
