Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has offered a typically bullish response to being left out of Arsene Wenger’s recent autobiography.
The former Arsenal boss released a book earlier this week, detailing his time in charge of the Gunners. However, there was one glaring omission, with no mention of Mourinho whatsoever.
The pair had a prickly relationship with one another, particularly during Mourinho’s two spells in charge of Chelsea. Wenger had to wait until their 13th Premier League meeting before finally picking up a victory.
When asked for his thoughts on not featuring in Wenger’s book, Mourinho could not resist pointing to the head-to-head record as the reason for the omission.
“Because he never beat me. You are not going to do a chapter about 12 or 14 matches and never win one so why should he speak about me in his book?
“A book is a thing to make you happy, make you proud so I understand perfectly the situation,” he said, as reported by football.london.
Bale training well
The Portuguese coach appeared to be in good spirits, as Tottenham look to continue their momentum from before the international break. Spurs host West Ham this weekend, and have been boosted by Gareth Bale returning to training.
When asked about Bale’s fitness, Mourinho offered a positive update, but refused to confirm whether he will play on Sunday.
“The planning of the recent sessions had a big focus on him. His condition is good. Does he play Sunday or Thursday, we haven’t made a decision yet,” he said.
Duo miss out
Whilst Bale could be set for his homecoming appearance at Spurs, Giovani Lo Celso and Japhet Tanganga will not feature.
The Argentinian midfielder is unavailable due to a hamstring complaint, although Mourinho hopes it is a short-term issue. Meanwhile, Tanganga is yet to recover from the injury that forced him out of the England Under-21 squad recently.
