Who is Jim Boeheim’s wife Juli, when did the Syracruse coach marry his partner, what is the age difference between them, and how many children do they have? That’s a lot of questions, so let’s find out.
Jim Boeheim has been Syracruse Orange men’s basketball coach since 1976. Before that, he spent seven years as assistant coach.
To put that in context, in 1976 the internet didn’t exist, Gerald Ford was in the White House, and Apple was founded on 1 April by Steve Jobs.
It’s a long time to be a coach and, along the way, Jim has picked up ten Big East regular season titles, AP Coach Of The Year and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.
Oh, and for good measure, he’s got three Olympic gold medals from Beijing, London and Rio as assistant coach of Team USA’s men’s side.
Back home, Jim Boeheim is married to Juli. So what is the age difference between the couple, how did they meet and how many children do they have?
How Jim Boeheim met Juli
Boeheim had previously been married to Elaine, with whom he had a daughter, Elizabeth. They separated in 1993 after getting married just after he got the head coach job in 1976.
A year later, Boeheim was at the Kentucky Derby when he met Juli Greene, Vault reports. The couple would marry little more than three years later, in October 1997.
They have three children – son Jimmy and twins Buddy and Jamie. All three are basketball players.
Jimmy and Buddy both play for their father at Syracruse as a forward and guard respectively. Their daughter, Jamie, is at the University of Rochester, where she plays as a forward.
What’s their age difference?
The age difference between Jim Boeheim and wife Juli is about 21 years. Jim was born on 17 November 1944, making him 77.
Juli was born in Florida on 5 March 1966. It is an age difference of 21 years, three months and 17 days, at our reckoning.
Jim and Juli Boeheim are both involved in raising funds for cancer research. Jim has been involved in Coaches vs Cancer since its inception in 1993. He has helped to raise millions of dollars for the American Cancer Society.
The Coaches vs Cancer Basket Ball was held annually in Syracuse, New York, from 2000 to 2009, raising more than $3 million. The event inspired other galas across the US and Jim and Juli attend as many Basket Balls as they can.
