Meet Jaylin Williams' parents as rising basketball star shines at Arkansas

Jaylin Williams is proving to be one of basketball’s ones to watch as the young forward continues to shine with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Williams, 19, joined the Razorbacks as a Freshman in the 2020-21 class. Over the past year, Williams has made waves at his college of choice. Not only has he impressed on the courts, but Jaylin Williams made it onto the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

With Jaylin Williams on a rocketing trajectory, we get to know his parents and take a look at the Williams’ life outside of basketball.

Get to know Jaylin Williams’ parents

Jaylin Williams was born on 29 June 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is the son of Michael and Linda Williams. The Williams have five children: Jaylin, Mikey, Marquis, Montell, and a daughter named Synora.

Linda and Michael are incredibly supportive of Jaylin’s basketball ambitions. Linda has been spotted supporting her son at Razorback games this season. She also has a Twitter account where she shares the latest news on Jaylin’s successes.

Linda’s Twitter bio reads: “My daughter, son and my grand-babies are my heartbeat.”

Jaylin’s journey to signing with the Razorbacks

Before Jaylin Williams joined the Arkansas Razorbacks, he played for his high school basketball team at Fort Smith Northside High School.

In April 2020, Jaylin officially became a Hog, signing for the Razorbacks with his parents in tow. At the signing, Jaylin spoke of how supportive his family has been throughout the journey: “I’m thankful for my parents who pushed me throughout the whole way, thankful for my family – my brothers, my sister – who helped me to get to where I am today.”

Ever proud of her son, Linda Williams shared the emotional tweet congratulating Jaylin on his success. “So proud of [Jaylin] for all the goals he has set for himself in high school and working diligently to reach these goals. He stays hungry to be better and enough is never enough for him. Always keep your head up and your heart strong son,” Linda wrote.

The Williams family and basketball

The fact that the Williams’ have supported Jaylin’s basketball ambitions comes as no surprise, as the family are big basketball fans. Even Jaylin’s young nieces and nephews are getting involved with basketball.

Speaking on The Hog Pod with Bo Mattingly, Jaylin said: “In first grade, me and my dad used to come to the [Arkansas Razorback] games and watch them play.”

Jaylin Williams has also opened up on how his dad helped him find his feet in the sport, teaching him the art of drawing charges.

“He taught me how to be in the right position and I’ve just really been taking them my whole life from as long as I can remember back in AAU basketball,” Jaylin said. “I wouldn’t really say they hurt. I’m kind of used to them by now.”
