Gareth Bale has had to work up to full fitness since signing for Tottenham after a period out in the cold with Real Madrid.
International duty has always proved handy for him to get gametime and Wales should provide another opportunity for him to carry on getting fitter.
Wales coach Rob Page passed comment on Bale’s fitness when talking about his influence on the entire group, as per Football365.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho expressed concern recently about Bale working with Arsenal coach Albert Stuivenberg, but Page says the winger is fighting fit.
“There are no problems at all,” said Page. “Bale’s here, he’s in the dressing room with the lads beforehand and making sure that everyone’s in the right frame of mind.
“He is probably the fittest he has been and we will benefit from that. It’s great to have him playing week-in week-out and the way Tottenham have built him up to full fitness.
“It’s a case of managing him this week. It was always the plan to leave him out of the 23 (last night) and have him raring to go and firing on Sunday.”
We still haven’t seen the best of Bale in a Tottenham shirt this season, and that’s to do with fitness.
Wales seem set to manage him carefully, which should please Mourinho – who knew exactly what he was doing with his statements about Arsenal coach Stuivenberg.
When Bale is fully firing, he will link up with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, who have both been on fire this season.
Son has just scooped the Premier League player of the month award for October, with Kane in second.
Add a fully fit Bale to the mix and Tottenham look a very exciting prospect. It bodes well that his international coach has noticed how fit and sharp he looks.
