Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas insists that Chelsea fans have reason to be excited following Hakim Ziyech’s impressive performance against Krasnodar in the Champions League, according to Football London.
The Moroccan scored the Blues’ third goal in a 4-0 win. The victory sent the Londoners to the top of their group standings, after two matches.
The goal came in the winger’s first competitive start under Frank Lampard, since joining in the summer from Ajax.
‘Really good moments’
Speaking as a television pundit for BT Sport, Jenas mentioned that the Moroccan, who improved as the game went on, showed several glimpses of his ability.
As quoted by Football London, he said: “You know what, I thought he had some really good moments in there, Ziyech.
“In the first half he was getting better as the half went on.”

Hakim Ziyech’s spell so far
Ziyech suffered a knee injury in a preseason friendly against Brighton. The knock saw him sidelined for six matches. However, he was still called up for his national side for matches against the DR Congo and Senegal.
Following the international break, the 27-year-old made his league debut in a brief substitute appearance against Southampton, a 3-3 draw.
He has since featured in Chelsea’s last three matches against Sevilla, Manchester United and the aforementioned Krasnodar result.
‘Good player for Chelsea’
Jenas insisted that Ziyech’s physical condition was the player’s priority. The Englishman believed that the Moroccan’s match fitness has a significant baring on his ability, which he demonstrated under pressure.
“I mentioned the fact that fitness for him is of most importance right now, he is a player that relies a lot on his sharpness and you can see the quick feet in the tight areas.
“He is going to be a good player for Chelsea and he is a man that thoroughly enjoyed seeing that third goal go in for Chelsea.”
