Ahead of The Match against bitter rival Brooks Koepka, we look at Bryson DeChambeau’s parents, dad Jon and mom Jan.
Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will compete in The Match in Las Vegas on Friday (26 November). It will be a 12-hole exhibition match at the Wynn Golf Club.
The Match began with Tiger Woods facing Phil Mickelson at Shadow Creek in 2018. This year, Mickelson is in the commentary booth along with NBA legend Charles Barkley.
DeChambeau, the powerful, protein-drinking weight-lifter, broke the mould when it comes to new-age golfers
Since making his debut, Bryson has often been the much-needed pantomime villain of golf, with his ongoing back-and-forth with Brooks Koepka gaining new eyes on the sport.

DeChambeau’s parents: his dad, Jon
Bryson’s dad is Jon DeChambeau, a keen golfer himself who played in several PGA Tour events in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Jon played golf for the University of Arizona, which he attended from 1979 to 1982. After graduating, Jon went into the golf world by taking a job as an assistant golf pro.
He worked at the Skyline Country Club in Tucson, Arizona, before moving on to Tucson National Golf Club, where he stayed until 1987. He later became a manager at a chain golf store before briefly going professional.
After that, Jon went back into business (which he majored in), working in sales for a golf club.
He spent the most recent part of his career as regional manager of Northern California for Verishot, a golf social media company.
Bryson DeChambeau’s mom, Jan
Bryson’s outgoing, often outspoken personality comes as no surprise given both his parents worked in sales. His mom, Jan DeChambeau, worked as a sales representative for mattress company Serta.
The DeChambeaus live in Clovis, California, which is close to Fresno. They have two sons, with Bryson the youngest.
Golfer shares touching moment with parents after US Open win
When Bryson won the 2020 US Open, there were no crowds or family to congratulate him because of the pandemic. However, he was able to share a touching moment with his parents who appeared via video link.
“Oh my gosh!” Bryson exclaimed as he turned away from the screen to compose himself. “Hey Mom, hey Dad — I did it!”
“That was one of the coolest moments, seeing my parents on that screen,” DeChambeau later said. “I did not expect that. My parents have given so much up for me.
“I mean, there were times I went to school without any lunch money and we had to make bologna sandwiches and didn’t have anything to eat. We had some very, very difficult times.
“But every single day, they always wanted the best for me, and they always gave me the opportunity to go golf, go practise, and go get better.”
