Bernd Wiesberger will be at Whistling Straits taking on Team USA in the Ryder Cup this weekend.

Wiesberger is currently ranked 61st in the world rankings and has won eight times on the European Tour.

The 35-year-old played his way into Team Europe automatically following the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

It will be the Austrian’s first appearance in the Ryder Cup, and team captain Pádraig Harrington is especially pleased with him being on Team Europe.

“I’m delighted at how it has worked out, especially as Bernd is a really good, experienced player, and his style of golf suits Whistling Straits… he played his way in,” said Harrington.

Who are Bernd Wiesberger’s parents?

Bernd Wiesberger’s parents are Klaus and Claudia Wiesberger.

Wiesberger was born in Vienna, Austria, where his parents owned a local sports shop near a golf course.

His father was a member of the golf club, which is where Bernd learned how to play the game.

Bernd grew up playing football, tennis and basketball, but ultimately chose golf.

Wiesberger attended business school in Austria and also carried out military and social service for six months while continuing to play golf.

He has a brother, Niki Wiesberger, who occasionally serves as his caddie.
