Who is George Russell’s girlfriend?
George Russell met his girlfriend, Seychelle de Vries, when he was racing in the Formula 2 championship, and the pair have now reportedly been dating for three years.
The 23-year-old was pictured with the driver after he clinched the 2017 GP3 Series title.
Originally from the Netherlands, Seychelle is now very much involved in the world of racing, with her brother Nyck de Vries currently competing in the Formula E season for Mercedes-Benz EQ, and in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Racing Team Nederland.
He won the F2 title with ART Grand Prix, a year after losing out to his team-mate, George Russell.
Russell to step in for Lewis Hamilton
Russell will replace Hamilton at this weekend’s race, after the seven-time World Champion tested positive for coronavirus.
Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix last weekend at the same circuit as this weekend’s event, but has since been forced to self isolate after returning a positive test.
His absence presents an ideal opportunity for 22-year-old Russell, who has been granted permission by his current team, Williams, to race for Mercedes, as reported by the BBC.
“I see this as a great chance to learn from the best outfit on the grid right now and to come back as an improved driver, with even more energy and experience to help push Williams further up the grid,” said Russell.
“A big thank you also to Mercedes for putting their faith in me.
“Obviously, nobody can replace Lewis, but I’ll give my all for the team in his absence from the moment I step in the car,” he added. “Most importantly, I wish him a speedy recovery.”
