The England cricket team managed to beat Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup today and Jason Roy was the star of the show.
The Three Lions started off their World Cup campaign with a spectacular victory over the West Indies last weekend. They’ve now won their second game as well, and Roy, deservedly, was named the Man of the Match.
The 31-year-old opened the batting and scored 61 of just 38 balls. He looked incredible out there in Abu Dhabi and England sure are glad they have him in their squad.
However, Roy wasn’t born in the United Kingdom.
Where was Jason Roy born?
Roy was born in Durban, South Africa, on 21 July 1990. He is 31 years old now.
The cricketer spent the first ten years of his life in Durban. He then moved to England with his family and has been in the UK ever since.
Roy started his cricket career at the Reigate Priory Cricket Club. He went on to represent Surrey in multiple age groups
The South African-born English batsmen is now one of the most popular cricketers in the world. He is a star for the England national team, and he is much sought-after in franchise cricket as well, having played in the IPL, Big Bash, BPL and other leagues across the globe.
Who is Jason Roy’s wife?
Roy married his childhood sweetheart Elle Winter-Roy on the 7th of October in 2017. The pair met each other as kids and dated for about a decade before tying the knot four years ago.
The couple welcomed their first and only child, Everly, in 2019. Roy has never really tried to keep his family a secret and often posts pictures with them on his personal Instagram handle.
