Australia’s new Test captain has been announced but is Pat Cummins married? Let’s find out more about his family life…
There are only a couple of weeks before the 2021/22 Ashes series starts in Australia but the hosts have had to appoint a new captain.
Former skipper Tim Paine resigned last week and is now taking a break from cricket for personal reasons. His vice-captain, Pat Cummins, has been selected to be his replacement.
Cummins is the 47th full-time Test captain for the Baggy Greens, with ex-captain Steve Smith appointed as his number two.
The news has left some wanting to know a little more about Cummins. Is Pat Cummins married and, if so, what does his partner do and are there any children?
Is Pat Cummins married?
Cummins hasn’t married long-term partner Becky Boston – yet – although they did get engaged last year.
Boston hails from England and was born in November 1990. Cummins was born in New South Wales in May 1993.
Not much is known about how the couple met, although the relationship began around 2014.
Boston used to be a model but she has turned her hand to interior and home design.
The couple welcomed their first child, a son, only last month. The glowing parents have named him Albie Boston Cummins.
Good stats for new captain Cummins
As of 26 November, Cummins is the highest-ranked Test bowler in the ICC world rankings with a score of 908.
In his 34 Tests to date, Baggy Green #423 has picked up 164 wickets at an average of 21.59. He has produced a five-wicket haul on five occasions and has best figures of 6/23.
Cummins is the best specialist bowler (average-wise) to be named permanent Australia captain in almost 50 years. He was also part of the team that recently won the ICC T20 World Cup in the Middle East.
